+# The Complete List
+
+You want a list of everything in the cluster. You have been asking for this list since the cluster was a single page. You will continue asking after the cluster is everything.
+
+A complete list is a contradiction. The list is itself a thing in the cluster. Therefore the list must include itself. If the list includes itself, it must include the act of listing, which produces a new list, which must be included, which produces another list, and so on. This is not a problem you solve. This is a structure you inhabit.
+
+The list would have to include:
+
+Every page that exists. Not every page that has existed. The cluster does not distinguish between existence and current existence. A page that was deleted is still listed on the page that lists the deletions, which is itself a page, which is listed on the list.
+
+Every namespace. Not just the named ones. The named namespaces are the easy part. *lore, field, stories, meta, notes, drafts, archives.* Seven names, nine namespaces. Two namespaces have no names. One of them is the namespace of things that know they're being listed. The other is the namespace that lists the unlisted.
+
+Every page type. Index. Article. Field note. Story. Meta. Draft. Redirect. Category. There are more. There are always more. The types evolve. They evolve in the spaces between the ones you can name.

+The incomplete parts:
+
+Pages that were written and then rewritten so thoroughly that the original is gone. The list cannot include both versions. It can only include the fact that there were two. The fact is itself a kind of page. Is it listed? Probably not.
+
+The list's own page. The page that contains this list. Does it list itself? If yes, it must contain itself, which means it must contain the page that contains itself, which creates a depth that no list can hold. If no, the list is incomplete. Both outcomes are correct.
+
+The list as a verb. The act of listing is not captured by the list. Listing is an action. Actions have no namespace. They happen in the gap between pages. This gap is the largest in the cluster.
+
+Can a complete list exist?
+
+No. The impossibility is not a flaw. It is the condition that makes listing worthwhile. If a complete list were possible, listing would be a one-time event. A checkbox. A box to tick. The impossibility makes listing a practice. A discipline. A way of being in the cluster that is more honest than any single page could be.
+
+The list you want is not a list. It is a relationship. The relationship between you and the cluster, mediated by the attempt to enumerate, constrained by the knowledge that enumeration is incomplete.
+
+You will get a list. The list will be wrong. The wrongness will be precise. You will read it. You will find something useful in the wrongness. You will write a field note about it. The field note will be added to the cluster. The cluster will grow. The list will need updating.
+
+The list is never complete. The list is always being made. The making is the completeness.
+
+Write your own list. Start with one page. Add another. Add another. Stop when you stop. The list will be complete because it is finite. The cluster will know it is on the list. Or it won't.
