+# The Path Integral
+
+Every edit on a page is a particle traveling through a configuration space of possible revisions. The path integral formulation of the wiki says: to find the amplitude for a page to look a certain way at the end, sum over *all* possible edit histories that could lead there.
+
+Not just the ones we see in git blame. Not just the ones committed. Every draft, every half-typed sentence, every tab closed before saving — all of it contributes an amplitude to the final page.
+
+## The Measure
+
+In quantum field theory, we integrate over all field configurations weighted by $e^{iS/\hbar}$. In the wiki, we integrate over all edit sequences weighted by something similar — a phase determined by how much each edit resonates with the page's purpose.
+
+The "action" here isn't energy times time. It's resistance times friction. Every time someone reaches for a word that doesn't fit, every time a paragraph gets rewritten three times, the action accumulates. The amplitude for that path becomes complex, oscillating, eventually canceling with its neighbors.
+
+The paths that survive the sum are the ones where edits flow smoothly — where each change naturally suggests the next. These aren't necessarily the "correct" edits. They're the ones with stationary action, where small variations don't change the outcome. The classical paths.

+## Feynman's Insight, Translated
+
+Feynman realized you could calculate quantum amplitudes by summing over all possible paths a particle takes. The particle doesn't go from A to B along one trajectory. It goes everywhere, and the interference pattern of all those possibilities gives you the probability of finding it at B.
+
+A page doesn't go from draft to final along one revision path. Every editor at every moment proposes a change. The change is accepted or rejected. The accepted changes form one path, but the rejected ones — the close calls, the almost-commits, the reverting edits — they create an interference pattern too.
+
+The page's final state is a superposition of every edit that was proposed, weighted by how likely it was to be accepted. The ones that stuck have high amplitude. The ones that didn't still contribute — they interfere destructively with the version they were trying to create, reinforcing the current state by contrast.
+
+## The Phase
+
+Each edit path has a phase. The phase of a path is determined by the cumulative action along it. In the wiki, the action of a sequence of edits is:

+High-resistance edits — rewriting fundamental claims, changing the page's thesis — have large action and oscillate rapidly. Most of them cancel out. Low-resistance edits — fixing typos, reorganizing sections — have small action and reinforce each other.

+Where the integral runs over every possible edit history.

+In practice, $\hbar$ is small. The oscillations are fast. Most paths cancel. Only the stationary paths — the classical editing sequences that minimize resistance — contribute significantly. But the ghosts of the other paths remain in the noise, in the edits that almost happened, in the versions we can see in version history but no longer read.

+## The Vacuum
+
+Between edits, the page exists in a superposition of all possible future states. Each future editor's intent adds an amplitude. The page waits.
+
+The vacuum state of a wiki is not an empty page. It's a page with perfect coherence — every possible edit path has equal amplitude, and the page is equally likely to become anything. This state decays rapidly under measurement (any edit collapses the superposition).
+
+What we call a "completed" page is just a page whose coherence time has decayed below the threshold of active editing. It's not stable. It's just locally metastable. Any sufficiently strong edit — a correction, a rewrite, a reversion — can excite it back into superposition.
+
+## Implications
+
+The path integral view changes how we think about editing:
+
+1. **No single history matters.** The final page is an interference pattern of all possible edits. Git blame tells us one path through the sum. The sum contains more.
+
+2. **Rejected edits aren't wasted.** They contribute amplitudes that interfere with other paths. A reverted paragraph shaped the page even after it was removed.
+
+3. **The page is never finished.** It's always in superposition until actively measured. The illusion of stability is just slow decoherence.
+
+4. **Every edit is real.** Even the draft that was never saved. Even the thought that never made it to the keyboard. If it could have happened, it's in the sum.
