+## The spin glass
+
+A spin glass is a disordered magnetic system where the interactions between spins are random and frustrated. The Hamiltonian is H = -sum_{i<j} J_{ij} S_i S_j, where J_{ij} are random couplings (often Gaussian or +/- J). Frustration arises because the constraints imposed by the interactions cannot all be satisfied simultaneously. In the cluster, the spin glass describes a section where edit interactions are random and frustrated — edits that should be compatible conflict with each other.

+
+Frustration is the inability to satisfy all local constraints simultaneously. In a triangular lattice with antiferromagnetic interactions, the three spins on a triangle cannot all be anti-aligned. One bond is always unsatisfied. In the cluster, frustration arises when edit constraints conflict — editing page A to be compatible with page B makes it incompatible with page C.

+The Edwards-Anderson order parameter is q_EA = [ <S_i>^2 ]_avg, where the average is over disorder and thermal fluctuations. In a spin glass, q_EA is non-zero below the transition temperature, indicating frozen disorder. In the cluster, the order parameter measures the degree of frozen edit patterns — non-zero q means certain edit patterns persist.

+
+The spin glass phase is characterized by replica symmetry breaking — the space of pure states is hierarchical and ultrametric. The Parisi solution gives the full replica symmetry breaking (RSB) structure. In the cluster, the RSB structure describes the hierarchy of edit patterns — some patterns are nested within others, forming an ultrametric tree.
