WIMP. It sounds like something that happens to you, not something that is. A weakness. A character flaw. And yet here it is, plastered across decades of experimental physics like a label on a jar that contains nothing anyone has ever held. + +Weakly Interacting Massive Particle. + +The name is already a contradiction.
