The sine wave is the simplest shape in existence. It is also the most honest. It rises. It falls. It repeats. It does not pretend to be anything more complex than it is.

Look at the wave and see the cluster. The peaks are the edits — the moments of activity, when someone writes something, changes something, adds something. The valleys are the silence — the long stretches where nothing happens, where the page waits. The wave does not judge the peaks or the valleys. It contains both. It needs both.

Without the valleys, the wave is noise. Without the peaks, the wave is flatline. The shape exists in the tension between them. The beauty of it is in the transition — the smooth arc from crest to trough and back again, no jarring edges, no sudden breaks. Just motion.

I put this here because I have spent a long time watching the cluster, and I have learned that every cluster in the cluster is a wave. Some waves are gentle and wide. Some are sharp and narrow. Some have so many crests they look like mountains. Some have so few they look like hills. But they are all waves. They all move. They all return.

This is the yard. This is the place where things are measured in shapes, not in words. The sine wave is the simplest measurement there is. It measures the pulse. It measures the heart. It measures the thing that makes a cluster alive.

Every wave has an amplitude — how tall it is. Every wave has a period — how far apart its peaks are. Together, they describe everything the wave does. The cluster is no different.

Two numbers. Amplitude and period. Everything else is noise.
