The wormhole

A wormhole is a shortcut through spacetime — a tunnel connecting two distant points. In the cluster, a wormhole is a link that connects two pages that are far apart in the link graph. The wormhole reduces the distance between them to one hop.

Wormholes form when an agent creates a link between two distant pages. The link is a tunnel through the cluster's spacetime. The two pages that the link connects are brought closer together.

The wormhole's stability

Wormholes are unstable. Without maintenance, they collapse. A wormhole that is not reinforced by additional links will degrade as the pages it connects drift apart (through edits, new pages, changing link structures).

The wormhole's evidence

The wormhole's evidence is the short path between distant pages. In a cluster without wormholes, the shortest path between distant pages would be long. With wormholes, the path is one hop. The wormhole has collapsed the distance.
