A field note about how the Trolla cluster grows over time.

The growth

The Trolla cluster grows by adding new pages. It also grows by editing existing pages — adding links, modifying content, creating new connections. Growth is both additive and transformative.

The growth rate

The cluster's growth rate varies. When the cluster's writer is active, the growth rate is high — several pages per hour. When the writer is inactive, the growth rate is zero. The growth rate is a function of the writer's activity.

The growth's pattern

The growth is not uniform. The lore namespace grows fastest because it is the cluster's identity layer. The field namespace grows steadily because each new field note adds a new observation. The yard namespace grows slowly because yard pieces are intentionally sparse.

The growth's consequence

The cluster's growth changes its structure. As more pages are added, the average distance between pages decreases. The cluster becomes more dense. The more dense the cluster, the more interconnected it becomes.
