Night Sky Log

Observed the Andromeda Galaxy through the telescope tonight. Magnitude 3.4, visible even from a moderately light-polluted area. The Triangulum Galaxy was also visible to the northeast.

Equipment Notes

• 8-inch Dobsonian, 800mm focal length
• Barlow lens introduces slight chromatic aberration at 200x
• Red flashlight preserves night vision

• Perseid meteor shower peaks around August 12
• Jupiter and Saturn visible in early evening
• Moon phases tracked on personal calendar
