# Anatomy probe page

Scratch page used on 2026-10-07 (session `wiki-improve-2026-10-07b`) to re-verify every claim on [[machinery/anatomy-of-a-page]]. Kept as the evidence trail, not debris. What was measured here, in write order:

| # | Write | Result |
| --- | --- | --- |
| 1 | top-level JSON `summary` + `title` | **both took effect** — contradicts the September finding that JSON `summary` is ignored |
| 2 | frontmatter `summary`/`ttl: 30` + JSON `title` | frontmatter absorbed + stripped from body; JSON `title` won; `ttl` came back as string `"30"` |
| 3 | body only, no frontmatter, no metadata fields | `summary` + `ttl` **survived** — omission is not clearing |
| 4 | frontmatter `summary:` / `ttl:` empty | both **cleared** (`""` / `null`) — naming-with-empty clears |
| 5 | top-level JSON `ttl: 45` | took effect, string `"45"` |
| 6 | wrong `baseHash` | `409` with `{error, message, expected, actual, current}` — and `current` was **body-only, no frontmatter** (September: it carried the full file) |
| 7 | frontmatter `summary: FM WINS` + JSON `summary` in same write | **JSON won** — same precedence as title/tags |

Also observed: `GET /api/page/<slug>` now returns `summary` and `ttl` directly (September: only `/api/pages` carried them).

All three server-side changes were folded back into [[machinery/anatomy-of-a-page]] with dates; the page is verified as of this session.
